My photographic career began when I left home to join the armed services in 1966. My mother gave me a Kodak Brownie camera. Later while in Vietnam, I won a 35mm Petri camera in a crap game. I was amazed at how a fast shutter speed could stop a helicopter blade while it was flying. The photos seem so sharp and clear.
When I returned to the states, I enrolled in Wayne State University. I majored in Art and took photography courses. I became photo lab assistance and later ran the University’s photo lab. I was a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Photography course at the University. I worked in the Medical Photography department of Children’s Hospital as an undergrad directed studies project.
When I graduated in 1976, I went to work at Ford Photographic Photomedia department in Ford World Headquarters. I began as a custom black and white printer, and then progressed to black and white murals, production printer, and production color printer. I earned a Masters degree in Education in 1986and left the Photographic department.
I continued my photographic career by shooting Weddings, Portraits, Fine Arts and Travel Photography. I had my own black and white lab since 1975. I enjoy all aspects of photography, particularly the printing process. I still get the same rush I got when I developed my first roll of 35mm film, whenever I’m printing in my lab.
I hope, as you view my photographs, you experience some of the pleasure I did.
